Thalassotherapy

An talasoterapiezh

Renowned for the richness of its waters in minerals and trace elements, it is no coincidence that Brittany is regarded as the cradle of modern thalassotherapy. It was in the Roscoff area that the first centre opened its doors in 1899. Even today, it is in our region that the majority of France’s centres are to be found.

Seaweeds are used in thalassotherapy in the form of wraps, poultices, baths or cosmetic treatments, combining remineralising, moisturising, draining and pain-relieving effects.

Thalassotherapy uses mainly three types of seaweed: red seaweed, rich in organic silicon and with strong antiseptic power; green seaweed, whose antioxidant active ingredients are effective against cellulite; and brown seaweed, loaded with proteins and essential fatty acids.
